Everyone likes to be special.  Everyone believes they truly are special.  We believe everyone is special at the Hilton DFW Lakes Executive Conference Center.  We try to anticipate everyone’s needs in an attempt to make them feel special.  When things go awry for a guest we try to say “yes” and do whatever it takes to make guests feel special.  Think about the last time someone made you feel special.  Being special is a pretty good place to be and almost by definition is an exclusive and fleeting space and place.

We already do many things at the Hilton DFW Lakes designed to make our guests and team members feel special.  However, we are adding a new concept effective August 11th to create that special feeling for our guests.  Beginning on that date anyone who is staying on our concierge floor will automatically be invited to the hosted cocktail reception held nightly in the Tuscan Lounge.  Special food, special drinks, special service to all in a great atmosphere!  Please stop by if you get the chance and allow us to help you feel special!

Family Summer Vacations

June 30th, 2008

Recently I returned to the Hilton DFW Lakes Executive Conference Center from a week’s vacation in California.  It was the first full vacation I had taken in quite some time.  I am here to tell all you busy, type A personalities that these family vacations are a wonderful thing.  I returned well rested, some what relaxed and eager to tackle the pressing challenges the new business climate brings to us all.  Sometimes you need to step back, relax, and maybe even exhale before moving on with life’s priorities.  My vacation did that for me and hopefully it will for you as well.

At the Hilton DFW Lakes we offer the opportunity for affordable, low stress, family vacations.  While easy to get to by air or car, DFW Lakes offers something to all family members.  From summer camp to shopping, from swimming to horseback riding, and from massages to fishing you can do it all.  So whether you are interested in a weekend or a week you should check us out.  Prices start as low as $109.00

Great Time of the Year

June 5th, 2008

May and June are such great months.  Schools are finishing up.  The weather gets warmer and the days get longer.  People look to be outside.  We are very fortunate at the Hilton DFW Lakes Executive Conference Center in that we manage the 50 acre Austin Ranch located adjacent to the Hilton property line.  It provides numerous opportunities to be outside.  Of course, our meeting attendees utilize this space every day for team building events like horseback riding, fishing tournaments, and Texas barbeques.  But this time of year the ranch really rocks with school sponsored activities.

Recently we have been host to:

  • Coppell High School Soccer Banquet
  • Southlake Carroll High School Senior Day
  • St. Peter and St. Patrick Pool Parties
  • Martin High School Senior Day
  • Creekview High School Senior Day
  • St. Andrews 8th Grade Picnic

People seem to love our ranch and can’t believe the privacy and sense of Texas countryside you get only 3 miles from the nations 3rd busiest airport.  In the end it is our people who really make the difference.  Teri Kinsey, Director of Catering, Sally Boyd, Austin Ranch Sales, Amber Allison, Sales Manager, and Kathy Kamo, Caternig Coordinator form a terrific sales team for the ranch.  On the operations side Jose Luis Hinojos, Facility Manager, and Stan Thompson, Ranch Banquet Captain, do a great job day in and day out.  So if your looking for something different, something with a little adeventure, and a lot of Texas flare for your group, try the historic Austin Ranch.

Patriotic Weekend

The conference center has certainly been feeling patriotic over this Memorial Day holiday. First our Recognition Committee headed by Kourtney Francis and inspired by committee member, Sebastian Mancillas got the idea to honor our current employees who served in the armed forces by posting a short bio and service picture of our military employees in the employee cafeteria. Needless to say these pictures have generated a great deal of conversation among the staff, and increased respect that borders on awe in some cases. Merle Vines, Director of Security, does a great job but he no longer resembles the Clint Eastwood esque person in his photograph.

Kathy Kamo, Catering Assistant extraordinaire, looks very different from the person in her military picture some 27 years ago. We are very proud of our veterans and as they served their country so well in the past; they continue to serve our executive conference center today. Their bios and pictures are enclosed.

The other big news is that the Golden Brigade of the 82nd Airborne Division from the Vietnam War era recently celebrated their reunion with us. This great group of guys enjoyed themselves so much that General Bolling, their commanding officer, and event planner, Bob Murrill, revisited the hotel to present us with a large plaque in appreciation of the great service they received at the Hilton DFW Lakes Executive Conference Center. General Bolling commented on the great morale of our staff, and that they did not receive a single complaint during their stay. That’s truly Remarkable!
